Obituary for LARRY JAMES JONES
Larry James Jones was born July 16, 1948 to the late Charles Franklin and Eva Coby Jones, in Calvert County, Maryland. Larry was called from labor to reward Monday, November 2, 2015.
Larry was the fifth of eleven siblings. He received primary education from the Calvert County Public School System. There after he entered into a courtship with Maggie Vivian Parran; they were united in marriage on June 25th,1969. From this union there were four children, Larry, Jr., Rene, Vasilika, and Kevin.
He joined the Greater Bible Way Church July 1969, under the leadership of the late Bishop Henry and Mother Minnie l. Brown. After their demise he continued to serve under the leadership of Bishop Joseph N. Brown and First Lady Mother Pearlie M. Brown. He continued to serve under the current leadership of Senior Pastor Neil and Co-Pastor Delethian l. Gross. He was a faithful member. an ordained senior deacon, and base guitar player.
Larry loved to talk; could start a lengthy conversation with a stranger on the street and would immediately call them "my friend”. He loved to dress and also travel anywhere in the world - the highway was his second nature. Sports was a given; bowling, baseball (the Orioles) and football (the Ravens). He was known and often called by the following nicknames: Gumbie, Uncle Bennie, Flubber, Jones and Uncle Larrr.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: his beloved wife, Maggie; one son, Larry, Jr.(Arlethia);one daughter, Anita (Reginald); grandchildren, LaQuita and Ashley Jones, Trayron Snowden, Terron Snowden, Reginald Kerrick, Jr.; adopted children, Yvette, Hosea, Champan and Terry; his siblings, Delano (Agnes), Melvin (Barbara), Lorenzo (Faye), Alvin (Jacqueline), Colbert (Pam) and Lorelei Savoy; brothers-in-law, Joseph and Calvin (Yvonne); sisters-in-law, Julia, Erenestine, Mary F., Sara (Nathanial) and Marline. He will be greatly missed by the Greater Bible Way Church family, a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Eva; siblings Lloyd, Charles, Rodney and Ellison; three of his children,Rene, Vasilika and Kevin.
