Obituary for SONYA MONIQUE BROWN
Sonya Monique Mackall Brown, the oldest of six children was born on November 9, 1978 in Prince Frederick, Maryland to Joe Ida Contee and Chester Mackall Jr. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grand-daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her.
Sonya received her education in the Calvert County Public School System. She graduated from Northern High School in 1996. As a youth she attended Mount Olive United Methodist Church where she sung with the youth choir and also served as an Usher. Sonya worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier and she also worked at Sunrise Nursing Home in Annapolis, MD as a care-giver until her health no longer allowed her to work.
Sonya's life was full of joy, laughter and love. She was very dedicated to her family and friends. She was a loving and giving individual who had a great sense of humor. Her kind spirit would make you feel loved and greatly appreciated. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever she could. She loved shopping, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. As her illness and discomfort began to increase, rarely if ever would you hear her complain. Her positive attitude was an encouragement to others and lightened their spirit.
Sonya was joined in Holy Matrimony on April 1, 2001 to Arthur Lee Brown. From this union four children were born.
Sonya departed this life peacefully on June 29, 2018 in the comfort of her mother's home with her family at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her sister Charmine Owens; her aunt Beverly Long and cousins Shante Weems and Tasha Mackall.
