Obituary for CHARLES WILSON GROSS, SR.
Charles Wilson Gross, Sr. was born to the late Howard and Texanna (Watts) Gross on July 29, 1939. Charles married Florence L. Bell, September 7, 1958. He was one of seven children. He was a lifelong resident of Calvert County where he attended Brooks High School. He held various jobs over the years performing construction and maintenance duties as well as operating heavy machinery. More notably, he worked a number of years at Facchina Construction and more recently at the Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center before his passing.
Charles was known to always be doing something, whether at home or at church. If you found him at home, he was either working in the yard, sweeping the house, sitting in his recliner watching an old western, or sitting at his kitchen table eating or reading his Bible. Outside the home, he was devoted to his church, Emmanuel SDA Church, as a Deacon for several years. He was also devoted to his family and friends. As a matter of fact, family times were always filled with laughter and love.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Texanna Gross, a brother, Guildford Gross, and his son, Dale Young.
He leaves the following to cherish his memory: his wife, Florence Gross. From their union of almost 60 years, they raised five children - Linda Parker (Jerry, Sr.), Lydia Brooks (Gregg), Charles, Jr. and Larrissa Morsell (Joseph, Jr.). He also leaves six sisters and brothers, Rosa Mae Rice (Calvin), Penny Biscoe (Thomas), Twilla Mae Gross, Lorenzo Gross (Alberta), Larry Gross (Leslie), and Levi Gross, 10 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren; 4 brothers-in-laws, Frederick, James, Robert and Wilson; 1 sister-in-law, Ann and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
