Obituary for MYRTLE E. JONES
Myrtle E. Jones, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Long was born on October 7, 1913 on Cherry Hill, Road, Huntingtown, MD in Calvert County. She attended the old Lowry School at an early age in Huntingtown, MD. She departed her life on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Calvert County Nursing Center at 1:25 A.M., Prince Frederick, MD.
Myrtle was preceded in death by sisters, Calverdra and Mary; brothers Henry and Ernest, son Calvin and her late husband William E. Jones, Sr. She was the second of eight children, Calverdra, Henry, Mary, Ernest, Mildred, Audrey and Addie. She loved to cook, sew, do cross-word puzzles and watch soap operas, but mostly she loved to have her children and grandchildren around her. She loved to tell us right from wrong and guide us in the right direction. But we know that we loved her, but God loved her best. God saw the road was getting rough and the pain was getting tough, as the family prayed the rosary at her bedside and God gently closed her eyes and said come home my child.
She leaves to cherish her memories of ten children: James, Sarah, Corena, Carlton, Calvin (deceased), William, Jr., Sherman, Ernest, Mildred and Mary; four daughters-in-law, Pauline (James), Doris (Carlton), Julia (Ernest), Paulette (Sherman); three son-in-law, Warren (deceased, (Sarah)), James (Corena) and Larry (Mildred). She also leaves to cherish twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren, one preceded her in death. She also had a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and a very special devoted friend, Mary Johnson.
