Obituary for JAMES L. SHERRELL
God in His infinite wisdom, called His beloved son James Leroy Sherrell home on Monday July 19, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.
James was born on December 21, 1938 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late James Sherrell and Gladys L. Sherrell.
James received his education in the Parochial and Public Schools of Portsmouth, Virginia. He entered the United States Army in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1962.
Upon moving to Lexington Park, Maryland James united with the First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Alfred Chambers. He served faithfully and was ordained as a Deacon.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife of 46 years, Doris: five daughters: DeVera Goodwin Birmingham, Alabama, Constance Whitmyer, Lexington Park, Maryland, Bonita Sherrell, Portsmouth, Virginia, Marie Berry (Charles) Great Mills, Maryland and Janice Weems (Tyrone) White Sands, Maryland; one brother, Robert Sherrell (Patsey), Somerset, New Jersey; five sisters: Gladys Singleton (Moses) Chesapeake, Virginia, Ruby Ransom. Virginia Beach, Virginia, Regina Randall, Janice Darden (Vernon) and Mildred Trower (Kenny), Portsmouth, Virginia: twenty grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
