Obituary for JOSEPH EUGENE MORSELL, SR.
Joseph Eugene Morsell, Sr., 63, of Owings, MD passed away on March 30, 2010 at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Joseph Eugene Morsell, Sr., affectionately known by his gentle and pleasant personality, was born on February 22, 1947 in Calvert County, Maryland to the lateRoland and Estella Morsell. The seventh of nine children, Joseph grew up in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland where he assisted his family with farming whileattending school. In 1965, he graduated from William Sampson Brooks High School. For many years, he was employed by J. Austin Bowen. Most recently, he was employed by Edward B. Howlin Concrete, Inc., were he was a dedicated employee for 25 years.
Joseph enjoyed fishing, hunting and family gatherings. One of Joseph's favorite hymns was, "The Last Mile of the Way", sung by Sam Cooke.When Joseph was a young man, he became a member and faithfully attended St. Edmonds United Methodist Church in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. On February 16, 2008 he was baptized by Pastor David Arrington, and became a member of Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church in St. Leonard Maryland.
We will miss him, but we must remember: "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel,and with the trump of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first;. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
Joseph was preceded in death by: his parents, Roland and Estella; one brother, Roland Morsell, Jr., and one sister, Doris Gray Freeland.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife, ShaRon; three sons, Terry (Mable) Morsell, Joseph Morsell, Jr, and Michael (Arvaye) Morsell; five grandchildren, Evan, Marcus, Michael, Jr., and Markko, Morsell, and Chimere (Aaron) Harper; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Aaron Harper, Jr., andCameron Morsell; four sisters, Clarice Creek, Annie (Robert) Creek, Audrey Jones, and Helen (John) Titus; two brothers, Sherman (Ethel Lou) Morsell and Herman(Jesse) Morsell; six aunts, Mary C. Gross, Rose Jones, Evelyn Holland, Ernestine Jones, Ruth Coates, and Pearl Jones; two uncles: John Jones and Lemuel Coates; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will also dearly miss him.
