Obituary for WILLIAM H. RAWLINGS
William H. Rawlings, 57, of Prince Frederick, MD passed away after a brief illness on January 9, 2010 at 6:50 p.m. at Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD.
William Henry Rawlings known as (Billy, Batman or Black Bat) was the third child of the late Sarah Commodore and the late John Rawlings. He was born on February 29, 1952 and raised in Calvert County, Maryland. He was employed by Claggett Construction, and previously worked at the Meat Market on Mt. Harmony Road. You would never hear Billy complain and he would always tell us that he was going to fight and not give up. Billy had a kind heart and helped everyone who needed help. He enjoyed eating fried potatoes and cranberry sauce, as well as being a D.J. playing various types of music with Oreaco. He also enjoyed building decks for many people. He enjoyed Westerns, Clint Eastwood movies and loved all types of sports. Billy had four special friends: Oreaco Rice, Doreen Jones, Gladys Holland and Clifton Claggett.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, LaVar Rawlings; one grandson, LaVar Jr.; three brothers: Thomas Harrod (Mildred), John Thomas (Peanut, Kate) and Clyde Commodore (Kim); one sister, Stacey Commodore, all from Connecticut. His devoted friend, Tomorra Rawlings; and three caregivers, Jean Morsell, Barbara Magruder and D-Angelo Magruder. Two special aunts: Mazie and Henrette Commodore; two special uncles: Leroy and Junior Commodore; one son, Vashawn Rawlings (who all preceeded him in death); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, relatives and lots of friends. Billy always said that without Tomorra, Jean and Barbara where he would have been. He was really appreciative of what they did for him.
