Obituary for CATHERINE TYLER KING

Catherine Louise Tyler-King of Prince Frederick Maryland was born March 14, 1944 to the late John and Sarah Tyler. Catherine had ten siblings; Dorothy A. Dixon, Mary F. Bourne, Willie I. Mason, John Thomas, John M. Tyler, Violette M. Brooks, William Harris, Elnore L. Hicks, Reginald S. Tyler, and Carlton L. Tyler. The youngest of eleven children, Catherine spent her early years educated in the Calvert County School System.

Catherine attended Morgan State University, worked for the United States Government and was an elementary school substitute teacher.

In her younger years you couldn’t tear her away from the television when wrestling and roller derby were on. Catherine loved to play badminton and made sure her daughters played too.

Later in life, Catherine fulfilled her dream by getting a degree in Culinary Arts.

Known by some as the “Bread Lady” or “Big Momma” her passion was doing community service through the Hands Of God Mobile Ministry. Catherine touched the hearts of so many people by giving and helping those in need.

Catherine loved her grand and great grandchildren, singing and her children. Some would say in that order! But above all, she loved the Lord!

Catherine leaves her family and friends with an abundance of love and wonderful memories.

She is preceded in death by her sisters: Dorothy A. Dixon, Mary F. Bourne, Willie I. Mason; brothers: John Thomas, John M. Tyler, Reginald S. Tyler, and Carlton L. Tyler. She leaves behind her sisters: Violette M. Brooks (Theodore), Elnore L. Hicks (John); brother: William Harris (Mildred); her daughters: Danielle E. Tyler, Jamacia King, Geotinya C. Christensen, Mimi J. Simon and Nicole F. King; grandchildren: Francis E. Lynn IV, Aneshia N. Birch, Brandon J M. King, Antonio R. Taylor II, Nichele D. King, Amos L. Stepherson II, Tieara A. Hodge-New, Dajon N. Barnes and seventeen great grandchildren. She also leaves behind our sister Natassja K. King, her children; Danassjia, Mya and Ava and our Brother George J. King.
