GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Our beloved father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin and friend, Mack Howard Duncan, was born on May 3'd, 1940 to Oliver and Cora Duncan (both preceded in death). He was the youngest of 5 siblings, Marcia Johnson (sister, preceded in death), Anna Hunter (sister, preceded in death), Eva Ingram, and Boyd Duncan (brother, preceded in death). Mack aspired
to be like his big brother Boyd, and enlisted in the United States Air Force immediately following high school to follow in his brother's footsteps. The difference is that Mack was afraid of heights and his brother was not! He served faithfully in the US Air Force from 1960 until1972, stationed in many places such as Italy, Spain, Korea, and Japan, just to name a few. He shared many stories of his travels during his time in the service and was very proud of those adventures. He was discharged honorably in 1972.
On New Year’s Eve in 1972, he met the love of his life, Victoria Anne Duncan (wife, preceded in death) and their union brought 3 daughters into this world, Kadena D. Duncan, Cherise M. Duncan, and Shannon N. Mims (husband, Randy Mims). They were married for nearly 35 years. Their union is a testament to God's love.
Mack continued to work to provide for his wife and 3 children working as a volunteer for the Fire Department, and later, as a mail clerk at the U.S. Department of Interior until his retirement in 1991. He was a faithful father, husband, and friend. His hobbies included playing horseshoes, softball, and above all pinochle. Yes, Mack was quite the card shark back in the day! He also loved collecting coins and pens, and watching TV game shows, "Murder She Wrote", "The Andy Griffith Show", "Colombo", "Gun Smoke", and "Bonanza". Mack loved black and white western movies.
In 1991, Mack battled cancer and with God by his side, courageously won his battle. It was at that time that Mack became saved and gave his life to the Lord. On September 7, 2017, after a long, yet very courageous battle again with cancer, Mack transitioned from this earth to join all other angels seated at the throne of our King. He leaves behind to carry on his legacy, his daughters, Kadena, Cherise, and Shannon; his grandchildren, Kendrick
Duncan, Brenee Hill, Kenneth Hill Jr., Jordyn Duncan, and Kaleb Mims; his sister Eva Ingram; his closest friend and nephew, Mack Everette Ingram; his nieces,Carrie Benham, Gina Fisher, Janet Jones, Jodi Williams, and Shonda Cherry who served as his 4th daughter throughout the years of his journey ; his loyal brother and sister-in-law, Morris & Sharon Kent; and a host of extended family and friends. His journey here on earth may be over, but his heavenly legacy continues…
