Obituary for QUANEL F. SIMMONS
Quanel Frank Simmons departed this life and began his journey to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. "Little Coon” or "Coon,” as he was known to many, was born on December 14, 1961 to Frank and Shirley Simmons in Washington, D.C.
Quanel received his education in the Anne Arundel County Public Schools and attended Southern Senior High School. At the time of his death, he was employed with the Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the Anne Arundel County Parks and Recreation. He will be remembered as a kind, hardworking and dependable employee.
Quanel was a fun and caring person with a loving personality like no other. Once you met him you would never forget him. He was well- known by many and he always knew exactly what to say to bring joy and laughter into the conversation.
In his pastime, you would find him lending a helping hand to family and friends. Whether it was a ride to the store or moving someone from one place to another, or anything in between, Quanel would be right there to assist. He enjoyed watching football and basketball. If you had the opportunity to watch a game with him, oftentimes he was more entertaining than the game itself His top priority of things to do weekly was visiting with his loving sisters. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends, whom he loved so dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Shirley Simmons; and brother-in-law, Kelvin Owens.
Quanel leaves many memories to be cherished by his twin sister, Quanda Smith (Kelvin); sister, Joy Owens; devoted companion, Mary Watkins; nieces, Roshonda Matthe1us, Monica Butler (Wayne), and Yulanda Parker; nephew, Jerrell Medley; great-niece, Kiara Pratt; great-nephews, Wade Tyler II, Jamar Grier Jr., Wayne Butler II, Jordan Grier, Kaden Henson, and Wryan Butler; uncle, Richard Simmons Jr. (Gwendolyn); aunts, Ida Mae Owens, Charlotte Chase, Dorothy Brown, Shirley Warren, Edna Simmons, and Alethia Simmons ; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
