Obituary for VOLLEY IDA BROOKS
Volley Ida Brooks-Booth was born on August 30, 1931 in Washington, D.C. She was the second of eleven children and the only daughter of Leroy and Nannie Booth. She departed this life on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Volley attended Mt. Hope School in Sunderland and Brooks High School in Prince Frederick, MD.
She married to Hezekiah Brooks on May 29, 1952. From this union four children were birthed.
Volley was baptized at Bethel Way of the Cross Church on September 29, 1996. She attended Bethel for over 20 years until her health prevented her from doing so. Her devoted chauffer was her granddaughter Cherise.
Volley worked very hard to take care of her family. She did a lot of domestic work and worked in many restaurants in the area.
She had a love for people and loved to cook and shared many meals with her family, friends, and even strangers.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy, her mother, Nannie, and six brothers (Alfred, Charles, Frank, George, Roger and Eugene).
Volley leaves to cherish her memory five children: Gertrude, Patricia, Margo (Darnell), Michael and Sharon; four brothers: Everett, Gilbert (Marjorie), Wilbert (Mary) and Walter (Agnes); three sisters in law: Sylvia, Grace, and Ruth Booth; 12 grand children: Gerald (Judy), Peaches, Edwina, Kim, Angela, Juan, Washea, Tomika, Makalya, Shawn (Keisha), Monica (Kevin), and Cherise; 23 great grandchildren, Bethel Way of the cross church family and a host of other relatives and friends.
