Obituary for BRYSON WADE JONES
Bryson Wade Jones, Sr. was born on January 15, 1961 to Thelma M. Freeland and Earl Jones. He was preceded in death by his step-dad, Donald Freeland. Bryson received his education in the Calvert County Public School system and graduated from Northern High School, Class of 1980. Bryson began his military career in 1981 when he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. In 1982, he joined the United States Army Armed Forces. Some of the awards and certificates Bryson received while serving were: Certificate of Training USAREUR - Command Language Program (German)- Department of Army; Certificate of Meritorious Achievement - Recovery & Evacuation Specialist; Diploma - Track Vehicle Repairer Course - U.S. Army Ordinance Center and School; Certificate of Training - Automotive Vehicle Mechanics Course; Letter of Commendation, Combat Engineering Training; and Award - Maryland National Guard and Certificate for Best Engineer Squad. Bryson served his country with distinction and pride until he received his honorable discharge. Some of the positions Bryson held after returning to the Maryland area were: U.S. Department of State, Halifax Security Corporation as a Special Police Officer. Boot Camp Drill Instructor/Shift Leader with North American Family, Inc. Doncaster; Case Manager at the Halfway House, Southern Maryland Community Network and a Drill Sergeant with Oak Hill Youth Center in Laurel, Maryland. Bryson was also a Certified Auto Mechanic.
Bryson was baptized at Mt. Gethsemane Holiness Church in Huntingtown, Maryland in 1996. Bryson loved God. He had an infectious personality and never met a stranger. He was well known and loved; he was very humorous and loved to bring joy to others. He had a special love for his family and was a good friend to many. He was an excellent cook and always enjoyed preparing food and feeding others. He was caring and giving.
Bryson was married to Susan Coleman in September 1982 and from that union, he is survived by three beautiful children, two daughters, Paula Coleman of Frederick, Maryland, Barbara Jones Grant (Ross) of Camp Springs, Maryland, and one son, Bryson Jones, Jr. (Regina) of Camp Springs, Maryland. He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Thelma Freeland, his grandchildren, Danyella, Desiree, Dehlaya, Dawn, Jesse, Zion, Londyn and Zaire. His Sisters, Bernadine Bell (Lawrence) of North Beach, Maryland, Marvel Wills (Sherman) of Oxon Hill, Maryland, Marilyn Booth of Ft. Washington, Maryland, Tampatha Freeland of Sunderland, Maryland and his brother Timothy Booth (Brenda) of Waldorf, Maryland, and host of special nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles and a very special friend Shirley Tucker.
Bryson was called home on September 6, 2016 and went peacefully in his sleep.
