Obituary for EVANGELINE AURELIA WILLS
Evangeline Aurelia Wills was born on February 21, 1951 to the late Leroy Charles Wills Sr. and Yvonne Janice Mason Wills in Calvert County, MD. She departed this life suddenly on April 17, 2014. Evangeline, known by many as “Vanny”, was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was educated in the public schools of Calvert County, MD and graduated from Calvert High School in 1969. She graduated from Bowie State University, majoring in Elementary Education.
Evangeline worked with disabled children in Prince George’s County. For over 25 years she worked at the National Children Center in Washington, D.C. She later was employed with the Residential Youth Service in Alexandria, VA for 13 years as a counselor for troubled youth. Vanny loved to get together with family for holidays and cookouts. She enjoyed taking summer vacations with her family to Ocean City, MD. Vanny enjoyed dancing, going to the movies and shopping. She was a Washington Redskins fan. Some of her pastimes included playing Ping Pong and Pool. Vanny loved her poodle “Missy”; she enjoyed taking her for walks in the park.
Evangeline was preceded in death by her father: Leroy Wills Sr.; brother: Carroll Wills; nephew: Travon Wills; 6 uncles: John, James, Kenneth and Everett Wills, Howard Mason and Paul Prout; and 4 aunts: Doris Tyler, Mary Francis Thomas, Helen and Vivian Wills.
Evangeline leaves to cherish her memories her mother: Yvonne Wills; 2 children: Myra (Malcolm) Waul and Thomas L. Jones, Jr.; 3 grandsons: Gerald Jacks Jr., Marcus Waul and Khyriv Jones; 3 granddaughters: Jalyn, Jordyn and Jada Jones; 2 brothers: Alvin (Paulette) Wills Sr. and Leroy (Lynn) Wills Jr.; 2 sisters: Barbara (Oliver) Smith and Lisa Wills; 3 uncles: Robert Wills, Gary Mason and Enoch Tyler; 5 aunts: Shirley, Ephonia and Lillian Wills, Mattie Prout and Annie Mae Mason; 1 Great Aunt Elizabeth Wills; 5 nieces; 5 nephews; 2 great nieces; 5 great nephews; 1 great great niece and a host of loving cousins, family and friends. She also leaves a special friend Everett Thomas.
