Obituary for CAROL ANN JOHNSON
Carol Ann Johnson was born on January 23, 1941, to the late Sara Rebecca Gross Saunders. She departed this life at her home in Prince Frederick, Maryland on Friday, July 15, 2016.
She was raised by the late George Cephas Johnson and Susie Johnson whom she loved dearly. Growing up she was known to everyone in the neighborhood as Ann.
She was educated in the public schools of Calvert County, Maryland and studied at the University of Chicago.
On November 23, 1965, she was united in matrimony to James Edward Johnson (deceased) and out of this union five children were born.
Carol Ann worked as a Health Care Worker at Calvert Memorial Hospital until she retired in 2004 after 28 years of dedicated service. Up until the day she passed, she was proudest of her skill as a Phlebotomist in the lab and how she could "get you with only 1 stick!" People often requested her by name when they had to have blood work and some would refuse to let anyone else do it.
One of her greatest joys was spending time with her Grandson Cameron. They would sometimes go toe-to-toe, but she loved him like no other. In 2015, she was excited to be reunited with her grandchildren Alexis, Aaron and Alonzo. In her spare time, she also enjoyed horseracing, playing the penny slots, and was an avid wrestling fan.
She was preceded in death by her father William Isaac Saunders and sisters Tema Ruth Mason, Laura Buck and Marie Reynolds.
Carol Ann leaves to cherish her memory her 5 children - Kaye, Judith, Edwina, Joseph and Leslie; Grandchildren - Cameron Johnson, Alexis, Aaron and Alonzo Carr; Siblings - Vashti Peagler {Richard), lszetta Johnson {Michael), William Saunders, II (Arvenia), Denise Saunders; Uncle - Wallen Taylor; Sister-in-laws - Gertrude Holland and Irene Swales; Brother-in-law Clifton Johnson {Diane); A special brother-in-law Glenn Mason; Special friends - Adelle Harris, Mazie Commodore, Regina Johnson, Doreatha Gantt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
