Winsco Wallace, 91
Winsco Wallace of Prince Frederick, MD died on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 1:00 in the afternoon at his residence. The life of Brother Winsco, after 91 years of a great journey, came to a peaceful end. He had fought a good fight.Winsco Wallace, fondly known as "Uncle Dickie," son of the late John Cephas Wallace and Hattie Della Commodore Wallace, was born May 15, 1916 in Port Republic, MD. He was the third of twelve children.  As a youth, Brother Winsco attended Calvert County's public schools. In 1940 he married the late Alberta Wall. Together they raised two sons, Charles Harrodand Charles Morton. He later married the late Louiseana Chew on March 16, 1968 and was a loving and faithful husband.He later sought employment with David Gray & Son Construction for many years as a skilled carpenter. After departing David Gray & Son he followed his passion invarious areas of carpentry. You can see many of his masterpieces throughout Port Republic, MD and surrounding areas.Brother Winsco became a member of the Bible Way Church in the Early 1950's. He became a born-again, spirit filled Christian under the pastorate of the Late BishopHenry H. and Mother Minne Lee Brown. He did great work within that vineyard and helped to construct the original sanctuary. He had great respect for the currentleaders, Apostle Joseph N. and Mother Pearlie N. Brown.In 1979 he felt led by the Lord to work in the Ministry of the Solid Rock Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. At Solid Rock he was a pioneer and a great part of the bodyof Christ. He was the overseer of the building of the Solid Rock Church sanctuary.  He maintained Solid Rock's grounds and upkeep of the Sanctuary for many years.He served under the pastorate of the late Elder Andrew and late Mother Bernice Harrod, the late Elder Alton and Mother Patsy Tyler, as well as the current leadership,Elder Thomas and Mother Robin Berger. He showed utmost respect, love, and faithfulness for his former and current leaders until his death.Brother Winsco was a humble man who had great wisdom. He took pride in his Christian walk, which was evident in his appearance and demeanor at all times. Hewas a skilled carpenter who sought perfection in his work. He mentored many young men in the community in the art of carpentry. This inspired many of them to followin his footsteps by becoming excellent carpenters. Patsy, Thomas and Shelia were dedicated and committed to caring for him.  He was preceded in death by, sons: Charles Harrod, Elder Alton Tyler; brothers:Woodrow Wallace Sr. and Cephas Wallace; sisters: Ruth Rice, Blanche Parker, Susie Clark, Hattie Wall, Carrie Johnson and Annie Parker.He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons: Charles Morton, William Saunders and Thomas Tyler; one brother: Calvin Wallace; two sisters: Thelma Waul and HelenMae Harrod; three daughters-in-law: Patsy Tyler, Shelia Tyler and Sarah Saunders; five brothers-in-law: Elder Walter Waul, Clarence Johnson, Louis Waul, Edward Wauland John Commodore; three sisters-in-law: Bertha Wallace, Rose Mary Johnson and Selesta Waul; fifteen grandchildren: Joy, Jeffrey, Fashad, Tomica, Alex, Angie, Kim, Dee Dee, Craig, Keith, Maleah, Sonia, Jeanette, Leon and Keisha; one great-granddaughter: Brianna; Special friends: Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gross, Willie Buck, Dan ButlerSr., William Brown, Englis Gray, James Gantt, and Carolyn Chew; two very special nieces: Delois Johnson and Phyllis Dawkins; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service was held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11:00A at Solid Rock Church, Port Republic, MD with Elder Thomas Berger officiating.  The interment was at the church cemetery.The pallbearers were Otis Evans, Richard Parker, George Harrod,  Michael Wallace, Melvin Johnson, and  Robert Lee Wallace.The honorary pallbearers were the Deacon Board and Brotherhood of Solid Rock Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ
