Obituary for WILLIAM E. BROOKS
William (Billy) Edward Brooks was born March 30, 1941 in Prince Frederick, Maryland. He entered into eternal rest on March 23, 2017 at the Burnett Calvert Hospice House in Prince Frederick, Maryland.
Billy as he was fondly known by family and friends, attended the public schools of Calvert County. He entered the U.S. Army on November 25, 1963 and served in The Vietnam War in 1965 with the 1st Air Calvary Division as a Light Weapon Infantryman. He received the following commendations: Expert (Rifle M-14), 2d cl Gunner (MG M-60), Marksman (Rifle 90MM) and Sharpshooter (Pistol Cal.45). Billy was honorably discharged on October 31, 1969. Billy worked for various construction companies displaying his talent as a Cement Finisher, but his biggest accomplishment was fulfilling his dream of owning his own Cement Finishing Business. Billy was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a very outgoing man who was known for his ability to converse with anyone. If you knew Billy you knew that you would never be able to get a word in when he got started, but at the end of the conversation, about 2 hours later, you had a wealth of knowledge about world affairs and of course a couple of stories about his life experiences. We will miss those conversations but never forget the ones we shared.
Billy was married to the Late Ivon Evelyn Hawkins in 1969 and in that union they were blessed with six children.
Billy leaves to cherish and share his memories, Five sons: Chris (Nicole), Darnell, Jerwayne, Victor (Katrina) and Deon; daughter, Janell; 10 grandchildren: Jasmine, Bronson, Khorie, Keaira, Marvin, Thomas, Victoria, JaJuan, SaVaughn and Victor Jr.; 2 great grandchildren Avion and Brooklyn; mother-in-law Mary Hawkins; four brothers-in-law: Wilson (Mary), Melvin (Bonnie), Floyd and Charles (Joyce); sister-in-law Peggy. Special friends Benjamin Boyd, Jerome (Roni) Broome, Leonard Harris and Lopez Chew. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous caring friends.
