Obituary for WALTER WALL
District Elder Walter Wall was born February 17, 1923, to George Wall and Rosey Harrod along with five brothers and two sisters in Calvert County, Maryland; where he also received his education. During the year of 1943 District Elder Wall enlisted in the United States Army and soon after, in December of 1946, he married Thelma Wallace and together they raised: Lilly (Dorsey Commodore), Walter Jr. , Alberta (Lorenzo Gross), Jeannette (Marvin Chew), Christine, Timothy (Ruth Waul), Malcolm, Marcia (Leonard Harris) and Lisa. He then established and built upon 1945 Parker's Creek Road and there he and Thelma brought up his kids, the grand kids and sometimes the neighbors kids too.
In 1952, District Elder Wall joined The Greater Bible Way Church under the leadership of our founder, Bishop Henry H. Brown. However, it wasn't until 1972, When the Shepherd, Apostle Joseph Brown, picked up the mantle, became pastor and named him as his Assistant Pastor of the new, Greater Bible Way Church, where he served the Lord for many years. After the passing of the Late Bishop Joe Brown, he then continued to serve the Lord under the leadership of his grandson, Pastor Neil Gross.
District Elder Walter Wall was a man of many trades and always willing to lend out a : helping hand. When he had a break from making children, he, along with Senior Deacon Woodrow Wallace Sr.; managed to be one of the most efficient, precise, and hard-working Carpenters that Calvert County has ever seen. Those two alone, were the foreman's of Parkers Creek and Scientist Cliff. Of course, right by his side stood his best friend, "Big Jim'', with his cowboy hat on and the matching shoes. Throughout the course of his life he worked abroad in the field of carpentry and home improvement in Calvert County. He also was a part of the prestigious brotherhood, The Masonic Service Association, member of the Victoria Lodge, #71, F & AM, PHA. District Elder Wall worked at Calvert Cliffs Power Plant and was the Head Mechanic at Dorsey Gray Ford Motors as well. But outside of working, he most certainly loved gospel music. A couple of his favorite songs were "If you put your trust in Jesus, everything will be alright" and "Up above my head, I hear music in the air". Back in the day, he was known for calling on his children to sing some of his favorite gospel songs. District Elder Wall was a great example of a "classic man". Towards the end of his journey, his faith in God only intensified. You could often still hear him singing some of his favorite songs and if you were lucky enough, you were able to sing right along with him. District Elder Wall touched many lives during his time here on earth and will be missed.
