Obituary for VICTOR D. PERRY
Victor Duane Perry was born on December 20, 1957, to the late Alexander “Buddy” Jr. and Anna Elizabeth Perry at Presbyterian Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. He attended and graduated from Essex County Technical and Vocational High School in Newark in June 1976. Victor earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in May 2008. Victor accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man while in the Navy at his mother’s homegoing service in September of 2000.
Victor enlisted in the United States Navy on March 11, 1991 and served for twenty years. He achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class and was honorably discharged on March 31, 2011.
During his time in the Navy, he earned numerous commendations, achievements medals and awards. He was qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. Victor was deployed on the USS John F. Kennedy to Saipan for seven and a half years. His final naval service was completed at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland.
After his discharge from the Navy, Victor continued to work as a civilian for the Navy as an Ammunition Specialist until his retirement.
Victor departed this life on September 16, 2021. Victor enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching sports with his friends. If there was one word to describe Victor, it would be generous. Victor freely shared his resources, often helping people who were in need.
Victor leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Laleethea Holland and Shanté Clark (Sean); brother Bruce Perry; cousins James Curtis Davis (Julia), Maxine Little (Al) Stone, Kathy A. Lewis and a special friend, Valerie Barnes; two grandchildren Tian and SaNaa Clark and a host of cousins, friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Anna Perry, Aunt Josephine Lenora Davis Edmonds Jones and his grandparents Adolph Madison Davis and Anna Corrine Davis Bailey.
