Obituary for VERNON LEON PARKER, SR.
Vernon Leon Parker, Sr., peaceably departed this life at his home on Monday, September 28, 2015. Vernon was the sixth child of eight of Richard David Parker and Annie Olivia Gross Parker.

Vernon was educated in the Calvert County Public School System. He attended the Votech Center where he mastered welding as a trade. He graduated from Calvert High School June 1971.

In 1976, he met the love of his life Juanita Plater. They were married on June 25, 1977. God blessed them with four children.

Vernon was full of energy. When he wasn't engaged in his full-time profession of welding, he enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. He loved bowling, playing ping pong, skating, playing drums, swimming, fishing, videoing at various functions and photography.

Playing drums was his passion. He played the drums in his younger years with his brothers in their group called the Kings of Hearts.

For many of his younger years, Vernon attended Brooks United Methodist Church.

In 1988, he joined the Church of God in Lothian. MD. He played the drums for the Lothian Choir for many years. In 2010, he and his family begin attending the Church of God in Lusby, Maryland under the leadership of Elder Desi Weems, Sr. He continued his membership there until his health declined.

He eagerly wanted to make sure he was baptized. He requested Hospice Minister, Lindzy Laughhunn to baptize him at home in his bathtub. He repeatedly stated that he wanted to make Heaven his home and to be with Jesus.

He leaves to cherish his memories devoted wife Juanita; children: Vernon Leon, Jr., Timothy Lee, Diane Marie Angeles (Edwin), and Lorenzo Mervin; grandchild Edwin Jayden Angeles, Jr.; siblings: Mervin Parker (Shelia), Brenda Bond (Harland, Sr.), Lorenzo Parker (Linda Marie) Arnold Parker (Paulette), Jerry Parker (Linda May), and his adopted brothers and sisters, Andrew Parker (Kenya), Teneko Parker, Teffany Parker, Terry Parker (Shercora), Nakia Parker, Tavares Parker; brothers-in- law, Michael Hawkins, Clinton Morton and Doval Lee Plater; uncles, Ernest Parker (Carlene) and Daniel Brown, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his special friends, Blondell Mason Sr., Haywood Parker and Paul Jones.
