Obituary for TIVOLA V. GORMAN

Tivola Gorman (called "Tee" by family and friends) was born on May 21,1931 in Newark, New Jersey to the late McCoy and Gussie Willis. Tivola was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert and brothers McCoy Jr., Alonzo, and Roosevelt; and God Son, Marcellas Sewell. Tivola was called to her Heavenly Home on December 1, 2014 at the Calvert County Nursing Center, in Prince Frederick, Maryland.

Tivola was educated in the public schools of Newark, NJ and Prince Frederick, MD. She furthered her education and became a private nurse for the wife of Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater in Washington D.C. and Maryland. She held jobs in other fields, until she retired. Tivola then went on to do community work, mostly with the church, from which she received much enjoyment.

Tivola was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Hubert Gorman on July 3, 1954.

Tivola had been a member of Bible Way Holiness Church (Washington, DC), under the leadership of Bishop Smallwood E. Williams, where she was a member of the True Blue Club. She later attended New Bethel Church of God in Christ, and on returning to Calvert County, joined Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. Tivola was an usher and a member of the Nurse's Unit. Tivola was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association (ICUA) of America.

Tivola could talk non- stop for hours, about her love of the church. She loved shopping and would go into a store and go up and down every aisle looking at and buying dresses, hats, shoes and purses to match for church. Everything had to be in order for Tivola. She loved traveling and going out after church to sandlot baseball games to cheer on her favorite teams.

Tivola leaves to cherish her memory: brother, Frednell Willis (Newark, NJ); aunt, Bernice Sewell; sister- in- law, Yvonne Willis (Willingboro, NJ); God-Children, Kenneth Gross, Jr., arlos "Scopie" Crutchfield, and Patrick Smith; her friend, George Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
