Obituary for THURMAN ADAMS

Thurman Adams, 81, of Washington, DC peacefully was called from labor to rest in the loving environment of his home on February 13, 2011. Thurman, (affectionately known as Bug) was born on July 7, 1929 in Calvert County, Maryland to the late John and Georgia Giles Adams. He was educated in the Calvert County Public School System. Later he relocated to Washington, DC where he resided until his death.Thurman worked in the construction field as a Drywall Mechanic. He obtained his skill early in life and used it to make a living. Thurman also had a passion for shooting pool, and sports, especially football. His hobbies included listening to jazz and collecting old radios. He also was well known for collecting old albums, old cars and his Cadillac.Thurman was the proud father of Jeffrey, Diane, Angie, Larry and a wonderful stepfather to Sherman Gray. Thurman never wedded in holy matrimony; however, he had a special and lasting relationship with the late Amy Blake (Tillie), who was the mother of his children. His children hold dear and fond memories of their dad as a fun and loving father.Thurman enjoyed having a good time. Even though his sight failed him, devoted family and friends, which included, Mark Adams, Rennie Reid, and Bernice Smith, helped him and took good care of him. The late Phillip Randall and Randolph Adams were previous caretakers. Thurman was preceded in death by sons, Robert (Little Bobby) and Frederick (Freddy) Adams.Thurman leaves to cherish his loving memories: three sons; Sherman, Jeffrey and Larry; two daughters; Diane and Angie; (15) grandchildren, (24) great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Rose Adams; one sister, Martha Strouther; three brothers; Joseph, Lemuel, and James Adams; two brother-in-laws; three sister-in-laws, and special family members Dorothy Adams, Laurence Qualls, Lil Holiday, Beverly Tyler, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
