Obituary for THELMA HAMMETT
Thelma Hammett was one of eleven children born to Alexander and Juanita Ford. in Calvert" County. Md. She was the loving wife of now deceased Willie Hammett. the mother of three sons: Richard (Darnell). Anthony (Tony) and Earl (Tee), the Grandmother of Four. and Great Grandmother of Seve·n. Thelma Hammett was also a loving and honorable Sister. Aunt. Neice. Cousin. Godmother. Adoptive Mother (to many) as well as a loyal friend. Thelma began her education attending Halls Creek School in Dunkirk. Md. Then moving on to complete her scholastic education at Brooks High in Prince Frederick. Md. After that she became a student at Morgan State University in Baltimore. Md. She began her employment and career in the Food Industry as a waitress/cook. This was a Field that she loved and enjoyed. (Thelma was very good in this Field). You name it. and she could cook it. bake it. fry it. steam it. broil it and serve it up. as well. She was well- known during her restaurant career as (Miss D. (Miss D ended her craft in the Food Service Industry while working over 28 years at Stoney's Restaurant in Washington. DC. During this time she was awarded as One of Washington DC's Longest-Standing Waitress/Cook. She was featured on Local Television WUSA Channel 9 (and also in the Local Newspaper) for her Outstanding Service and Tenure. (Well Done Miss D.
