Obituary for TERRY ROBERTO BROOKS, SR.
Terry R. Brooks Sr, was born August 20, 1958, in Huntingtown, Maryland to the late John Brooks Sr. and Annie Kyler Brooks. He departed this life on Saturday, June 30, 2018.
On January 7, 1983 Terry married the love of his life, Selessia C. Washington of Washington DC. From this union came one of his greatest joys in life - the birth of his son Terry Jr. But his even greater joy was the birth of his daughter Charamine.
Terry attended Calvert County Public Schools. He graduated from Northern High School in 1977. Early on in life Terry worked in the tobacco fields with his father and brothers. After graduation from high school Terry, with his friend, Steve Hicks and his brother Homer began working for Atlas Railroad Company helping to construct the Washington Metro System. He then followed in his father's footsteps in being a bricklayer. He worked in construction for a great part of his life, but in 2009 he decided to pursue a career as a Security Guard with Knight Protective Service.
Terry was a devoted father, grandfather, son and uncle. He took great pride in his grandchildren. Terry found a way to brag about his grandchildren at any given moment. He had been known to stop someone in the middle of the grocery store to share his proud granddad moments. He enjoyed gardening, going for walks and playing basketball with his grandchildren.
Terry was preceded in death by two brothers, Alexander and Charles; father, John R. Brooks Sr.; his mother-in-law, Shirley Washington; father-in-law, Seless Washington; and brother-in-law, Antoine Washington.
Terry is survived by his mother, Annie Brooks; wife, Selessia; two children, Terry Jr. (Zoraida); and Charamine Brown (Derrick Sr.) grandchildren, Laila Brown, Amya Brooks, Tamara Brown, McKenzie Brooks, Derrick Brown Jr., Terry Brooks III, and Laiana Brown; bonus grandchildren, Jarrod Jr., Marcus, Jasmine, Serena, Briana and Derzhya; one sister, Sarah Jones (Crispin Sr.); eleven brothers, John Jr. (Gertie), Ford (Jurileen), Stewart (Gwen), Dwight (Pandora), Homer (Betty), Richard, Douglas (Cheryl), Mason (Sharon), William, McKinley and Dwayne (Laverne); one aunt, Marquerite Brown Chambers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
