Obituary for TAREEKA LYNNAY JONES
Tareeka Lynnay Jones was born May 21, 1989, in Prince George's County Maryland to Twanda Jones- Reid and the late Terry Lee Walls. She was called to eternal rest on March 7, 2016.
Tareeka received her education through Calvert County Public Schools and graduated from Huntingtown High School in 2007 where she was well-known by her teachers, administrators, and entire staff of HHS.
Tareeka, also known affectionately as "Ree" or "Ree Ree", was currently attending Fortis College of Hyattsville, Maryland to pursue a career as a dental assistant. Tareeka wanted to improve her life for her and her girls.
In her earlier years, she attended Wards Memorial United Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend Lucius Ross, Jr. She participated on The Daughters of Zion Liturgical Dance Team, Harambee, The Youth and Anointed of God Choirs and attended vacation bible school annually.
Tareeka was a people person who would light up a room as soon as she made an appearance. She was a very cheerful and playful person who would crack a joke on you in a minute. If you knew Tareeka, you knew her favorite greeting to everyone was, "Hey boo!". Whenever Tareeka visited or had been to a place with everyone, her presence made a difference.
One of Tareeka's mother's pet peeves that she knew would get on her nerves was to answer the phone and say, "Como se llama? How may I help you Twanda girl?" Whether she had just seen you or hadn't seen you in years she would say, "I miss you so much!" To KNOW Tareeka is to LOVE her!
Tareeka's legacy will continue through her three beautiful daughters, Za'Mya, Za'Kiya, and Zaire Jones. We always thought that she was growing them up too fast, but little did we know, she was preparing them to be independent without her. Although her soul is resting, her spirit is definitely within her children and each one of them has a characteristic of Tareeka.
Tareeka leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Twanda and Troye Reid; three sisters, Tori, Tanequa, and Taurean; one brother, Devin; grandmothers Alice Hurley "Bootsy", Betty Crudup, and Freda Reid "Nana"; great-grandmothers, Bertha Holland and Hortense Brown; great-grandfather Norman Hurley; aunts, Lynnette, Janine (Terry), Anita (Ray), Amber, Sonya (Dennis), Cynthia (Gerald), Olivia, Thelma, Linda, Charmaine (Kenneth), and Darlene; uncles, Dion (Yolette), James, Thomas (Donna), Kingsley, Calvin (Tasha), Walter (Malinda), Howard (Angela), and Joseph; two godmothers, Sonya Johnson and Tera Reed; goddaughters, Zakari and McKenzie; special boos, Naykeshia, Tiarra, Alikia "Pooh", Terrence B., Brittany P, Nicole, Latoya, Ernie, Keyonna, Talaya, Kelsey, Lauren, Quita, Venisha, Brittany R., Shanise, Takelia, Monique, Aminah, Terrence F., Nyjell, and Nakida; and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Tareeka was preceded in rest by her father; Terry Lee Walls; her sister, Jalisa Walls-Harris and grandfathers, Kenneth Jones, James Louis Gray and Tralvis Crudup; great-grandma Arthelia Hurley.
