Obituary for Stanley Langston Thomas

Stanley Langston Thomas, son of the late Calvin and Ernestine Thomas, was born on April 4, 1934, in Prince Frederick, MD. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ernestine, Carlise, Earl Thomas and Bernice Bourne. Stanley was called home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2008, at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD.

Stanley leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years, Marine. From the union were born two daughters: Marlene Shields and Marcia Thomas, as well as one son, Carlise (Tommy) Thomas, all of Prince Frederick.

Stanley had three other sons: Stanley Thomas of Baltimore, Vale Thomas of Prince Frederick, and Stanley Thomas of Lusby. He also leaves one sister, Jeroline Moore; three brothers-in-law; Arthur Brooks, John Brooks, and Abraham Moore; five sister-in-law, Irene Williams, Louise Russell, Deloris Brooks, Doris Brooks, and Ernestine Brooks; fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other family members an many friends.

Stanley was educated in the public schools of Calvert County. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 71/ Carroll Victoria and Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.

Stanley worked for Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission for thirty years, and retired in 1990. His retirement allowed him to spend his time doing the things he loved: hunting, fishing, hanging out with his family and friends, and just being a big tease. He loved to listen to gospel music.

As his condition worsened, God sent a special angel to help Marine care for and look over him: Celeste Gross. He would always joke with her and kept saying If you dont show up, you know I got a contract on you.

Although no one quite remembers how the tradition began, Stanley had the habit of calling his love one my monkeys. As a result, family and friends began giving him gifts of monkeys. To date, his collection numbers more than fifty and he was proud of every one of them.
