Obituary for SHERMAN LEE PARKER

Sherman Lee Parker age 63, lovingly known as "Lee" and "PeeWee" was born on August 11, 1959 to the Late James Sherman Hawkins and the Late Maybell (Sadie) Elizabeth Parker in Annapolis, MD. Sherman stepped into his eternal resting place late Saturday evening, on April 29, 2023 at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD. Sherman was surrounded by his loving family and friends who witnessed his "Last Heartbeat".

Sherman was educated in the Anne Arundel County Public Schools System where he met his soul mate, his loving and devoted companion of 46 years, Wanda Jacks, and they were blessed with their son, DeTroy. Then he was blessed with his daughter, Tynica, and granddaughter, Ja'Riyah.

Sherman previously worked as a Carpenter for Spriggs Construction Company and James Barnett Construction Company. These two companies were the backbone to many men of the community just starting out in carpentry. He also worked for B&M Construction Company before starting his own, Sherman Parker Construction Company. Currently, he was employed as a Janitor with the Prince George's County Public Schools System until his health prevented him from working.

Lee was a member of the "Midnight Rollers Motorcycle Club" along with his brothers Buck and Jerry. At that time Jerry was the President so you know Lee did anything he wanted. He loved traveling all over the state to different motorcycle club events. Lee excelled in the sport of Billiards. He joined the Pool Team "That's Wat Wee Du" with his friend, Alvin Commodore, where he became Captain of the team. He competed and won many tournaments and trophies at Tucker Restaurant, Fast Eddies, and the Hangers Club Pool Halls. Outside of the pool halls, he played faithfully at his friend Lee Makell house. He would come home saying "I beat Lee Makell so bad, he put me out". But Lee Makell always called him to come back. Lee was on the pit crew along with Alvin, and Johnny Boy for his brother Jerry's race car "New 2 The Game Racing". He always prayed that Jerry would make it back down the track so he wouldn't have to walk to the end of the track. Jerry promised to get him a golf cart.

Lee will be missed by his family. Wanda will miss his phone calls every 15 minutes. They will miss hearing the microwave beeping in the middle of the night. They will miss the click-clack of his bedroom slippers on the floor. The unknown "food bandit" will hit no more. But most of all, they will truly miss him.

Sherman Lee Parker was baptized on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Bethel Way of the Cross Church by Bishop Easton. Sherman started attending Bethel Way of the Cross Church during the pandemic. He felt that he couldn't wait until his home church, Carter's United Methodist Church, reopened. We told him to go, don't' wait! Sherman didn't even have to worry about transportation to and from church. His friend, Marvin Coates, made sure he was in attendance by picking him up and taking him home.

Sherman was preceded in death by his mother, Maybell (Sadie) Elizabeth Parker, his father, James Sherman Hawkins, his sister, Margaret Louise Parker Joyner, and his brother, Ronald Hawkins.

Sherman leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted companion, Wanda Jacks, son, DeTroy Parker, daughter, Tynica Parker, and granddaughter, Ja'Riyah Ford; three brothers, Calvin (Buck) Rawlings, Jerry Parker, and James Hawkins; six sisters, Peggy Hawkins, Sharon Cutchember, Velma Mason, Patricia Gross, Lynn Harrod, and Nadean Williams; one sister-in-law, Linda Parker; two nephews, Alonzo Rawlings, and Jerone Parker; four nieces, Carla Brooks, Starlette Bourne, Taneika and Lakia Parker; four great nephews, Jai and Jaidyn Parker, Taevon and Daevon Hamlin; two great-great nephews, Tayveon and Carter Hamlin, two great-great nieces, T'mirah and Leona Hamlin, and host of relatives, cousins, and friends.
