Obituary for ROSEMARY JOHNSON
Evangelist Rosemary Wall Johnson was born on November 28, 1932 to the late Mr. George Wall and Ms. Rosey Harrod in Calvert County, Maryland. After 87 years of a phenomenal walk with the Lord, Evangelist Johnson transitioned from this life to divine rest on February 13, 2020.
As a youth, Evangelist Johnson, received her formal education through the Calvert County Public School system. Prior to receiving her High School diploma, she returned home, to assist in taking care of her parents, and provide needed support on the homestead.
As Evangelist Johnson came of age, God blessed her and Mr. Jack Harrod to bring forth the love of her life, her darling daughter, the incomparable, the Late Mrs. Mabele Virginia (Harrod) Wallace. Evangelist Johnson loved her daughter with all of her being. Though she made room in her heart for so many others, no one could take the place of Mabele. The two were inseparable. They shared a mother-daughter bond that many can only dream of. From shopping, to singing, to just spending quality time together, Evangelist Johnson and Mabele did it, and they did it their way. later in life, Evangelist Johnson went on to marry Mr. Oliver Johnson. No additional children resulted from their union.
For many years, Evangelist Johnson served as a caregiver to many throughout the Calvert County community, most notably the family of the late Mr. Dorsey Gray, in her words, "Ole Man Dorsey Gray”. She would often speak of her love for Dickey, Billy, and Cindy, of how she raised them, and embraced them as her very own. The relationship with the Gray children remained mutualistic. Regardless of where life took them, they never forgot Evangelist Johnson. Whether it was Dickey visiting her in the Nursing facility, Billy addressing a transportation need, or Cindy providing an all-expense paid trip to Florida, the relationship endured the test of time.
As profound as her service was throughout the community and beyond, the crown jewel of all such service rested solely at 2300 Sixes Road, the place we affectionately call "BIBLE WAY". Evangelist Johnson has been a member of The Greater Bible Way Church, Prince Frederick, MD since its inception, under the leadership of the Late Senior Bishop Henry H. Brown and Mother Minnie Lee Brown. Evangelist Johnson served both the church, and the First Family, with a passion and untiring will to execute the task at hand. At the demise of Senior Bishop Henry H. Brown, Evangelist Johnson continued to serve Apostle Joseph N. Brown, DD and Shepherd Mother Pearlie M. Brown. In the 70's, Apostle Brown bestowed upon her the sophisticated title of “Household Technician". She wore It. and she wore it well.
Though she honored the office of Evangelist to many she was known as either: “Auntie”, Aunt (pronounced Ann) Rosie, or “Nana”. God gave her the innate ability to connect with congregants from divers' backgrounds, embracing each with a mother's love. In the ministry, she served as: President of the Pastor's Aide, President of the Junior Missionary Board, President of the Helping Hand Club, Sunday School Teacher (Class #3), a member of the Finance Committee, and sang with the Bishop Specials, the Gospel Messengers. the Senior Choir, and the Gospel Choir. When God called Apostle Brown home, she continued to support the ministry under the leadership of Senior Pastor Neil & Co-Pastor DeLethian Gross. During this season, her position changed from leading major auxiliaries, to praying fervently for the success of the ministry, and seeing the glory of the Lord in the land of the living.
Evangelist Johnson was preceded in death by her HUSBAND Oliver Johnson, DAUGHTER Mabele Virginia Wallace, BROTHERS: District Elder Walter Wall, John Commodore, John Wall, Joe Wall, Louis Wall, and Edward wall; SISTER Vertie Wall; SISTERS-IN-LAW: Thelma Wall, Martha Wall, and Susie wall.
Evangelist Johnson leaves to cherish her legacy: SON-IN-LAW Woodrow Wallace, Jr.; SISTER-IN-LAW Selesta E. wall; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, colleagues, family and friends, The Brown Family, and the membership of 2300 Sixes Road.
