GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Robert Major Booze was born on May 18, 1925 to the late James Oliver and Mazie Ellen Booze. He departed this life on Sunday, August 26, 2018, to go to a 'home in glory land that outshines the sun'.
"Rob", as he was known by many, received his education in the public schools of Calvert County, Maryland. Rob was raised on a tobacco farm and always had farming and hunting
in his blood. Having a desire to serve his country, he left the farm to join the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1946. During his time in the service,
he earned several decorations and citations. Two of those decorations were the Army of
Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. His military service led him to
become a member of the American Legion Gray-Ray Post 220.
As a youth, Rob attended Mt. Hope United Methodist Church with his parents. Later in
life, he joined Ward's Memorial United Methodist Church, before returning and renewing
his membership with Mt. Hope. While at Mt. Hope, Rob sang on the Methodist Men's
Choir and rejoiced in the Lord. He even entertained the men as they were preparing the
meats for one of the church's Bull Roasts. While the other men worked, Rob made jokes. As everyone knows, there was never a dull moment when Rob Booze was around.
One of Rob's favorite hobbies, besides telling jokes, was hunting. He hunted various
'game', but he had a great love for raccoon hunting. He would travel from Maryland to
several of the southern states to hunt "some coons" and he LOVED his hunting dogs!
Rob, also, enjoyed sitting around talking to family and friends and just enjoying life.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings: Thomas, Lewis, Samuel,
Joseph, Bernice, Juanita and Hilda. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Anna
Booze Millings; a special nephew, Milton (Joann) Jones; step -children from the union of
former spouse Earlene Chambers Booze: Frank Jones, Martha Janey and Robert (Ellen)
Ray; grandchildren; special friends: Mary Frances Kent, Sam Ford, Dorene Jones, Kenny
Lyle, Kinsley Jones, Lowell Thomas, Sr. and Lester Holland; and a host of loving
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
