Obituary for ROBERT KYLER

Robert Kyler was born March 15, 1924 to the late Bessie Baiden and Frank Kyler in Calvert County, Maryland. Robert transitioned from this life on June 10, 2013 while receiving care at the Bay Ridge Nursing Facility in Annapolis, MD. Robert was educated in the Calvert County Public school system, and served 2 years in the military. With a 6th grade education Robert owned his own school bus business and worked for the Naval Research Lab in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland for 30 years. After retiring from the Naval Research Lab he worked for the Board of Education for 20 years delivering lunches and meals, as well as farming and growing a wonderful garden each year that he shared his vegetables from. His success was accomplished with the support of his beautiful and loving wife Laura, whom he fell in love with and married in 1951. She always had his back, girding him up in everything he set his hands to do. As his son Larry stated 'behind every successful man is good woman' Robert was a faithful member of the usher board at Mt. Hope UMC for years and would be seen after church service assisting ladies as they would walk down the steps outside of the church, which is a rare courtesy extended to ladies by this generation of men. You could always count on seeing him at Bowens Grocery greeting you with a kind smile, and if he didn't know you he had no problem asking you your name. Robert was well loved and respected by all who knew him. Robert was a good friend, a stern but caring father and a loving & dependable husband. His presence will be dearly missed among family and friends. Robert is survived by: his loving, wife Laura Hall-Kyler; one daughter, Diane Kyler-Pierce of Lanham, MD; 4 sons, Norman Mackall(Mary) of Queens, NY, Robert Winfield Holland of Huntingtown, MD, Forrest Kyler of White Plains, MD and Larry Kyler of Breezy Point, MD; one sister, Helen Mackall and one sister in-law, Dorothy Jones of Calvert County. He is also survived by 18 grand children, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
