Phyllis Holland Reid was born on September 29. 1931 in Washington, DC to Landus G. and Gertrude L. Holland. Phyllis received her education in Washington DC., Montgomery County and Calvert County where she graduated from W.S. Brooks High School. She continued her education with classes at Morgan State College, American University, Prince Georges and Charles County Community Colleges.
In April of 1949 she was united in matrimony to Leslie H. Reid, which led to 35 years of marriage and two children. Phyllis worked for the U.S. Government Department of Commerce for forty-one years and nine months, retiring in 1995.
On her Christian journey as a member of Plum Point UMC she was a member of the Senior Choir, the Ushers Board as well as a Sunday School Teacher. Phyllis also participated as a member of the kitchen, finance. membership and trustee committees. She would also give a small gift to each church member for every special occasion.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Landus and Gertrude Holland, her brother Sterling Eugene Holland, her husband Leslie H. Reid, her daughter Avis L. Reid, and her nephew Barry Holland. She leaves to cherish he memory her son Vaughn D. Reid Sr. (Gayle), Her sister Peggy Holland, and bothers Clarence Duppins, (Faye) and Clarendon Duppins. Her grandchildren Brandon S. Foote (Jennifer), Vaughn D. Reid Jr., Shadawn Gustus (Sean), Gwendolyn Becraft, Felicia Holland, Katrina Holland. Twenty Great Grand Children and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
