It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Alan Shookner. He passed peacefully at home on December 16, 2020. His final days were spent in the care and comfort of his son, Randy and his grandchildren Natalia Paige and Colton Anthony. Pete is survived by his brothers Robert and Malcolm and sister Vicki Shookner-Steckel. He is preceded in death by his wife, Madolyn Shookner and his parents, Peter William Shookner and Alice Veronica Gantly Shookner.
Pete was born in Yonkers, New York on March 5, 1941. He was the oldest of three brothers. They were know as The Three Shookner Boys. He attended Concordia Prep School (Class of ’59), Junior College ( ’61) in Bronxville, New York, and Concordia College ( ’63) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At Concordia is where he received his B.A. Pete served his country in the U.S. Air Force for six years and was a lifelong proud veteran of his service. He wore his Veterans hat proudly every day. He married Madolyn Burger on November 16, 1968. Pete was a Boy Scout Leader while his son was in scouting. He worked hard all his life and retired twice. Once from Giant Foods after 26 years and Walmart for 14 years.
In his later years, he lived in Ellijay, Georgia, which was not far from his brother Bob and step brother Rex Hussmann. He made life long friends during his times at Walmart, Giant and in the communities where he lived. He went to live with his son, Randy in Prince Frederick, Maryland in October 2016 as his health declined. His grand children were constantly visiting their Pop Pop and making their time together special.
We will cherish his memory as a brother, father and grandfather.
