Obituary for PAUL TIMOTHY FRANKLIN
Beloved father of DeMarcus Paul Franklin and the third son to the late Clarence & Mary Franklin. Paul Timothy Franklin was born on September 5, 1963 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. His mother doted on him because he was her 'baby boy'. By the time Paul graced us with his presence, his two oldest brothers, the late Clarence E. Franklin and the late Earl L. Franklin were grown adults and had their own families.
He attended Southern High School in Harwood, MD from which he graduated in 1981 with a Varsity letter for Football and Wrestling. From there, Paul received his original orders for the Marines in July 1981. He wore his uniform with pride and you could always hear him say Semper Fi or shouting "Oorah". He worked in the Telecommunications field for over 15 years until he fell ill due to a health condition called Castleman's disease. Unable to continue working, he went out on long term disability.
Paul was once married. On a Friday night in 1985, Paul received a phone call while on duty at work. The young lady on the other end was Michele Richmond. Little did he know that from this call that it would not only result in a union, but a child as well. Five years after being together his heartbeat, DeMarcus was born on December 12, 1990. Paul and DeMarcus were more than just a father and son, they were two Peas in a Pod. Paul treasured him so much that at the age of three, he allowed him to cut his hair. When DeMarcus was done, he looked at his son and said something (in his jibber jabber 3-year-old voice) and handed him the clippers. Paul was extremely proud of the haircut he received from his son that he wore it patches and all to work for several weeks. They had a bond that couldn’t' t be denied. Although distance parted them, they were never disconnected.
Paul loved three things in this world: His Son, his Eagles and his Harley. Paul started riding motorcycles in the early 90's. His first motorcycle was a dark purple Kawasaki. He later found an interest in Harley Davidsons and sought out to purchase his first one where he then completely redesigned it and made it his own. He was a member of two motorcycle clubs: Down n Dirty MC and the Sons of the Black Caesar. He later sought to become a Mason where he became a member of Masonic Temple 11275 and Widows Sons Lodge #7.
Paul leaves us with a lot of great memories, uncontrollable laughter, pictures of the food he cooked and every now and then a swig of moonshine .... If your lucky. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts and in our minds, and his legacy will continue as his son carries on the Franklin name!
