Obituary for PATRICIA ANN COOK
Sister Patricia Cook was born November 18, 1953 in Calvert County, MD. She was the oldest child of her parents, Louis and Bertina Chew. She received her primary and secondary schooling in the Calvert County Public School system.
She found the Lord early in life and was baptized in the name Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost at the Bibleway Church, under the late Bishop Henry Brown and Mother Minnie Brown. She later became a dedicated member of the Solid Rock Church, where she served faithfully for many years under the late Elder Andrew Harrod, the late Elder Alton Tyler, and Pastor Thomas Berger, until the Lord called her home.
Along the way, she met the love of her life, Malcolm Leroy Cook, whom she married and was devoted to for over forty years. From their union, the Lord blessed them with a daughter, Tyece (Cook) Culley. She loved them both dearly. Amidst marriage and motherhood, Sister Cook found time to continue her educational pursuits by attending Fleet Business School, Anne Arundel Community College, and Sojourner Douglass College, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. She was employed by several organizations. Most recently with the Salvation Army, where she taught and worked as an early childhood educator. She was recognized and commended for her superlative efforts by all of the Captains who supervised her.
Sister Cook loved church and was fond of the old-time way and old songs. The tag line to every welcome address she gave was, "Clap your hands, stomp your feet, get in the beat with Jesus." She had a passion for baking and loved to provide the right cake, for the right occasion. She adorned herself with a meek and quiet spirit which endeared her to all those whom she met. She will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Leroy Cook; her brother, James Chew; her sister, Elaine Chew; her parents, Louis and Bertina Chew; her grandparents, John and Missionary Beatrice Wallace, & Louis, Sr. and Ollie Chew.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tyece Culley; her son-in-law, Marlin "Son" Culley, Jr.; her grandchildren, Sha'Quera Ford-Culley, Tyanna Cook-Culley, Makien Culley, Marlin Culley Ill, Martae Culley, MarQuan Culley, Martyce Culley, Markeita Culley, MarKiya Culley, and Markell Culley.
