GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Pastor Ronald E. Hawkins passed away late Sunday evening on January 8, 2023. He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, he finished his course. Now, he is in the hands of our almighty God.
Ron was born on October 11, 1955, to the late James Sherman Hawkins and Elizabeth Hawkins. He was raised in Sunderland, Maryland and graduated from Calvert High School in 1973.
Ron served in the United States Army from April 1974 to May 1976.
Thereafter, he spent the majority of his adult life building his business, Genesis Office Systems, in Baltimore, MD, which he founded in 1985. Genesis Office Systems served the Greater Baltimore-Maryland region providing office equipment and IT services to day cares, churches, and other prominent organizations. He expanded his business, opening a second location, in Prince Frederick, MD. The second location was opened in order to meet the growing need for office systems and IT services in the Southern Maryland tri-county area, where he serviced the local public and private schools.
Ron joined the Church of God in Lothian Maryland in 1976. He later served as the head deacon at the church before becoming an Evangelist in 1999, spreading the word up and down the County.
He was sent to lead the Church of God in Prince Frederick, MD in 1999. In 2005, God called him to start his own work, the Church of God at Calvert County. He pastored until he became ill in 2015.
The Church of God at Calvert County continues today through the help of Elder Matthew White, Deacon Sylvester Willett, and Brother Tim Hawkins.
Ron met his wife Roxanne in the seventh grade at Calvert Middle School. They were married on March 4, 1978, and spent forty-four years raising their seven children.
The Lord called him home late Sunday January 8th, 2023. He was proceeded in death by his father, James Sherman Hawkins and his eldest son, Ronald Hawkins, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Hawkins; his wife, Roxanne Hawkins; his seven children, Lamont Hawkins, Ryan Hawkins (Kim), Timothy Hawkins, Ronda Charles (Ivan), Starr Hawkins, and Jayla Anderson. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jayda Hawkins, Ronald Hawkins, Ayden Charles, Omar Hawkins, Kaden Hawkins, Eli Charles, Gavan Charles, and Jordan Hawkins; his seven siblings, Peggy Hawkins, Sharon Cutchember (Donald), James Hawkins, Velma Mason (George), Tricia Gross (Tony), Lynn Harrod (James), and Nadean Williams; his in- laws, Ibrahim Muhammad (Shelly), Earl Butler (Cheryl), Vanessa Willett (Sylvester), Jerry Butler (Khairina), Princess Butler, and Lisa Bush (Sherron); Godchildren, Leslie Gross, Greg Gross, Vernicia Smith, Rebecca Barnes, Marselle Williams, Shaquille Morsell, Sherron Bush, and Jarred Torney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He has made a lasting impact on many and will be missed by all.
