Obituary for NANNIE PEARL CADE

Nannie Pearl Taylor Cade, daughter of the late Herbert and Pearlie Taylor, was born December 17, 1925 in South Hill, Virginia. Nannie was called to celebrate eternal life on May 1, 2014, at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Springs, Maryland.

Nannie attended the public schools of Lunenburg County, Virginia. At an early age, she was baptized and joined the Flat Rock Baptist Church, located in Kenbridge, Virginia.

After finishing her education Nannie moved to Washington D.C., living with her aunt until she met and married the late Warren T. Cade Sr. From that union they had two sons, Warren T. Cade Jr. and Lowell Cade.

Nannie was employed with a variety of retail stores during her working years, ending her career at Giant Foods as bakery manager. She retired from Giant Foods Corporation after 18 years of service, receiving a special recognition award from Israel Cohen, the founder of Giant Foods. During her retirement, Nannie became a grandmother and cherished the years she cared for Jarrett when he was an infant.

Nannie's kind and caring heart extended to her parents and siblings. After the death of her mother, Nannie would often spends weeks caring for her father, giving her other siblings a much needed respite. When her younger brother's health began to fail, she would travel to Virginia and stay with him. While there she provided comfort, support, cooking, deaning and helping with his medications. Nannie enjoyed gardening, fishing, being with family, cooking, traveling and sitting outdoors, especially under the big pine tree in South Hill.

Nannie leaves to cherish her memory, two sons; Warren T. Cade, Jr., of Seat Pleasant, Maryland and Lowell Cade of St. Leonard, Maryland; two sisters; Ola Alexander and Eunice King of South Hill, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Robert King of South Hill, Virginia; one grandson Jarrett Cade of Riverdale, Maryland; one great-grandson Aiden Cade and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
