Obituary for Monica C. Holland-Greene

On June 26, 2008, Monica C. Holland-Greene peacefully departed this life after a spirited fight against cancer.  Monica was born on February 18, 1967 to Nellie Holland and Francis Holland at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
She was educated through the Calvert County Public Schools and continued her education by pursuing studies at Fleet Business School.  Through the years she worked as a secretary in both the auto and insurance industries, and most recently a healthcare provider.
On July 13, 2002, she was joined in matrimony to her husband George Greene.  Monica and George became members of Plum Point Church and ultimately Monica joined Greater Mount Zion Church in Prince Frederick, Maryland.
Together they enjoyed traveling to such places as Germany for the birth of a grandson. They also enjoyed traveling locally to places such as Williamsburg, VA and Shepardstown, WV.
In the last year, while Monica pursued treatment and the comfort of others battling cancer, she traveled to California where she was able to attend services and meet with Pastor Noel Jones, one of her many sources of inspiration.  She participated in a pageant for those with cancer, which gave her the opportunity to tell her story of a young woman battling cancer. She also traveled with her cancer support group to Vermont to enjoy contemplative treatments for her physical and spiritual well-being.
Monica had many friends and enjoyed caring for the small children of different friends and family members. She enjoyed reading the Bible and finding new ways to heighten her level of spirituality and her relationship with God. In addition, she enjoyed relaxing and enjoying movies at home in the company of her family.
She leaves behind her husband George Greene; mother Nellie Holland; father Francis Holland; step-mother Sandra Holland; four children: Tamika, Danielle, Ashtin, and Trenton; two grandchildren, Kaedyn and Haleigh; sisters: Venus, Sherry and Daysha and brother Frankie; four nieces and three nephews; six aunts: Adele, Clarissa, Dorothy, Paula, Regina, and Virginia; three uncles:  Austin (Bunky), Donald and Robert (Winfield); along with best friend Marchelle Jones, a host of relatives and friends too numerous to name.
