Michael Delano Jones, Sr., was born in Maryland on July 22, 1956 to the late William W. Jones and Corina Jones. Michael went home to be with our Lord on February 21, 2017.
Michael attended the public schools of Calvert County, Maryland. At a young age, he attended Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. After graduating from Calvert High School in 1974, he enlisted in the United States Army and later joined the Army Reserves totaling more than 20 years of service. He later became a member of Alfred E. Young Lodge No. 99 (MWHGL).
Michael worked as the District Equipment Supervisor for Maryland's State Highway Administration. He dedicated 32 years to SHA. Michael was the same at work, as well as home. He was quiet and easy going with a mild mannered spirit.
Michael met the love of his life Rolinda Hatton and they were joined in matrimony on August 8, 1992. The Lord blessed Michael with two children, Michael Jr. and Michelle Angel.
Michael loved his family and enjoyed motorcycles, race cars, the San Francisco 49ers, playing cards and Wii. He took pleasure in time with his nephews and friends.
His favorite hymn was ''Amazing Grace”. He was preceded in death by his father William W Jones and brother-in-law Terence Barnett.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Rolinda; son Michael Jr; daughter Michelle; mother Corina Jones; grandchildren: DeLayna and Tierra Jones; siblings: Patty Gray, Ralph Gray (Wayna), Joan Sharpe (Robert), Maxine Jones, Phillip Jones, Florine Barnett, Clinton Jones
(Sharon); in-laws: John & Rosetta Hatton; sisters-in-law: Leslie Hatton and Deria Hatton; aunt: Juanita Jones; two godchildren: Ikea Reid and Michael Waters; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
