Obituary for MELISSA REED JOHNSON

Melissa Reed Johnson was born in Calvert County, Maryland on April 15, 1967 to Mervin Parker and the late Josephine Reed. Melissa graduated from Northern High School in 1985. She graduated from the Washington School of Secretaries, Washington, DC in April of 1986.

Melissa started her career at Mutual of Omni and later started working for the World Bank where she was employed for many years. She also worked for several years at Calvert Memorial Hospital as a pharmacy technician.

Melissa was a lifetime and devoted member of St. Edmonds United Methodist Church where she actively participated in the St. Edmonds usher Board, the Dance Ministry and sang with the Voices in Praise.

Melissa was a devoted mother to her children. She loved her family very much and cherished her children. She enjoyed building things, making flower arrangements, coordinating weddings and family get-togethers, helping others in any way that she could, riding her motorcycle and attending activities with her bike club, "Speed Diva", going to church and above all, anything involving her children.

Melissa leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children: Tymessha and Joshua Johnson; three brothers: Corey Reed, Casey Reed, and Andrea Parker; five sisters: LaShawn Reed, Stephanie Savoy, Angela Parker, Randi Parker, Danielle Parker and one surrogate sister, Alicia Coates; three nephews: Raekwon Savoy, Trayvon Chase, and Khaleel Thompson; one surrogate nephew: Anthony Wilson, and one nephew that preceded her in death: Robert King Ill; seven nieces: Monique Savoy, Carina Reed, Dayona Jones, Yolonda Evans, Jaia Parker, lmani Watson, Madison Lee Harris, and one surrogate niece, Amaya Wilson. She also leaves five godchildren; a special uncle, Winfield Reed; seven aunts and uncles; close friends: Cloteal Bennett, Sandra Shorter, Milt Shapiro, Theresa Lee and Eugenia Stephney, and a host of cousins, co-workers and friends.
