GRIEF & HEALING

Maudy Olivia Freeland was born on April 1, 1928 to the late Joshua, Sr. and Lillian Hutchins and peacefully passed away on September 2, 2016. Her husband Harold Franklin Freeland, with whom she raised eight children, preceded her in death.
Maudy attended Calvert County public schools. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Plum Point United Methodist Church.
Maudy enjoyed being a homemaker and simple pleasures in life such as gardening, canning and picking blackberries from her bush. Not only did she love and care for her children, she also took care of relatives and other children. Spending quality time with her family was very important. Also, she enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, Sanford & Son, I Love Lucy and Golden Girls just to name a few. She liked sitting on her deck soaking in the sun and watching the cars go by. She was known for not biting her tongue and her fanny facial expressions.
Maudy celebrated her 88th birthday this year with family. She surprised us all when she blew out her candles and even interacted with the therapy dog. Her tenacity and strength will live on through her loved ones.
She is survived by: daughters, Lillian Hurley (Donald deceased), Lydia Smith (Nathan Sr.) and Virginia Freelan; sons, Melvin (Marita), Albert (Mary), Carl, Harold (Patsy) and Phillip Freeland; grandchildren, Eric, Nathan Jr. (Kimberly), Felicia, Tina, Donnise, Donald (Nicole), Albert II, Amanda, Ronnie, Sylvester and Lutece’; sisters; Blanche Harrington and Alice Golden; sisters-in-law, Mary, Annie, Gloria and Rosa Hutchins; 15 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
