Obituary for MARY ELLEN WEEMS

Mary Ellen Weems, daughter of the late John Watts and Mary E. Dent, was born August 4, 1939, in Calvert County, Maryland. She transitioned from this life during the morning of May 14, 2019 and received her Angel Wings.

Mary Ellen was educated in the Calvert County Public School System. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and attended St. John 's United Methodist Church. It was there, that she was ordained as a Lay Speaker. After a f ew years, she became a member of Mt. Gethsemane Holiness Church and was an active member on their Senior Choir.

Mary Ellen was united in holy matrimony to the very handsome, gray-eyed Samuel J Weems on June 20, 1964. GOD Blessed this union for nearly 55 years and they were entrusted by GOD with four children; Tony, Avis, Samuel and Zithem.

Mary Ellen worked as a cashier at Sydel! Grocery store during the 1960 's. She was later
employed at the Arc of Southern Maryland for many years until the decline in her health.

Mary Ellen did not allow her health challenges to prevent her from fulfilling her desire to take a
very active role in the care of her grandchildren along with her husband.

Mary Ellen enjoyed and loved listening to gospel music, especially the music ministry of Shirley Caesar singing "Jesus, I Love Calling Your Name". Mary Ellen favorite gospel song to sing was "His Eye Is On The Sparrow".

Mary Ellen will be missed. Her high spirits touched so many. Just to name a few, she had a sister bond with Doris Ann Weems; Gregory Mason listed her as "Sweetie Pie" in his cellphone contact list,· Eliza, for the great pigs feet and crabcakes; Doris, her Avon Home Shopping Network, Yolanda, keeping her singing alive and most of all Tony for being her "KFC chicken " man.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Watts and Mary E. Dent; and one brother
Douglas Lee Watts; and one brother-in-law Glenn Foote.

Mary Ellen leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Samuel Weems; four children:
Tony (Faith), Avis, Samuel (Joyce), Zithem (Stacey); nine grandchildren: Alicia, Marlin, Samara, Camry, Chad, Zakahri, Zykeira, Samantha, and Zamiya; three great-grandchildren: Michaela, Brandon and Zayden,· extended grandchildren: Edwin and Aaron Foote; five sisters: Eliza Foote, Doris Payne (Johnny), Pamela and Bonnie Watts, and Jaunetta Johnson (Louis); three brothers: Wendell (Denise), Johnny (Wanda) and Michael Watts (Connie); one uncle: Wilbur Dent; six aunts: Rachel Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Ann Dent, Sarah Dent, Katherine Dent, and Viola Garner; two brothers-in law: Stewart (Doris Ann) and Charles Weems; five sisters-in law; Mary Helen Gray (John), Constance Johnson, Alverta, Elsie and Celeste Weems; Godchildren: Darren Brown, Diane Johnson, John Foote (Booty), Suzie Spriggs, Ashley, Shanae Gray and The Savage Twins; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
