MARK GABRIEL JONES was born in Prince Frederick, Maryland on April 1, 1968, to Mary Helen Jones and James Edward Jones. He was the seventh of nine children. God in His wisdom and mercy, peacefully called Mark home to his eternal rest on October 24, 2023.
Mark was raised in Huntingtown, Maryland. He was educated in the Calvert County Public School System. He was a graduate of Northern High School (Class of 1987).
After high school Mark began working at Kaine Inc. and attended Lincoln Technical institute. Mark spent his career in the plumbing trade. He worked at a variety of plumbing companies throughout the region. Mark was an accomplished plumber who trained and educated numerous men through their plumber-apprenticeships. A buoyant extrovert, it’s no wonder that Mark’s relationships with colleagues expanded his careers at Citywide Plumbing, Lloyd Plumbing, Local 5, and the National Institute of Health (NIH). Mark was working in the trade he loved when God called upon him.
Mark was a member of Bethel Way of the Cross Church in Huntingtown where he was baptized.
Mark was affectionately known by his friends as “Juice”. He was known for his charm, and sense of humor. Mark brought warmth and laughter to any room he entered. He enjoyed horseshoes, corn hole, and crabs. Mark was a hard worker who was always focused and detailed oriented.
Mark loved his cars, trucks, and his motorcycle. He took great pride maintaining his vehicles and keeping his lawn neatly manicured. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to cook-outs, and entertaining guests while watching his favorite football and basketball teams. Mark enjoyed the classic westerns and could never turn down watching a good episode of “Gunsmoke” or “The Rifleman.”
Mark has been with his “life partner” Michelle for decades. Their love has spanned three decades. They’ve enjoyed every moment of vacations and celebrations. But their most meaningful memories have been their time spent at home with James (his Godson), or spending time with Michelle’s parents, most importantly with Mrs. Diane.
Mark’s neighbors enjoyed seeing his bright smile and sharing stories about life and family; and how meticulous he kept all things at his home. Michelle, Vincent, Timmy, Sheryl, Jo, Mia, Maegan, Joe-L, Mason, and James will forever miss and love Mark.
Mark was preceded in death by his brother Curly Edward Jones, Sr.; his sister: Sheila Jones, and his special friend, Diane Fenwick.
Mark leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory; his father: James E. Jones (Dorothy); mother, Mary H. Jones; four brothers: Jesse Jones (Marilyn), Neil Jones (Marcella), Julien Jones, and Ronnie Jones (Lisha); five sisters: Regina Gilbert (Ron), Maureen Berry (Robert), Hope Jones, Katina Jones, and Debbie Holland (Bobby); his partner Michelle Morsell, good friend: Vincent Fenwick, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, colleagues, neighbors, and friends.
Mark will be greatly missed, but his memory will be forever cherished.
