Obituary for MARGARET W. GILES
On March 23, 1937, Margaret W. Giles of Huntingtown, Maryland, was born to the parents of the late Marie Chase and John Wallace. On February 18, 2021, in White Plains, Maryland, at approximately 2:44 a.m., Margaret, transitioned to be with the Lord, with her daughter Odesea by her side.

Margaret received her education from Prince Frederick Elementary and Brooks High School. On October 24, 1953, Margaret was united in Holy Matrimony with Melvin Giles, Sr., after falling head over heels for him. At 7 years old, Melvin wrote a note asking, "Do you like me? Yes, or No?" Melvin said he wrote "like" because at age 7, he did not know how to spell "love." From that union, there were six children. Unfortunately, in 1955, one of the children, "Baby Girl Giles," was still born.

In the early 195o's, Margaret faithfully sang in the senior choir at Little Rehoboth Church, in Sunderland, Maryland, under the leadership of Bishop Owens, which is now known as Calvary United Apostolic Church, under the leadership of Pastor Michael Fields. This is where Margaret repented of her sins and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. By profession, Margaret worked retail in Forestville, Maryland; Crofton, Maryland; as well as in Calvert County, Maryland. In 1973, Margaret along with husband, Elder Melvin Giles, founded Bethel Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, Inc., located at 1811 Mitchellville Road, Bowie, Maryland. In 1988, Margaret and Melvin became Certified Home Care Providers, by the Calvert County Department of Social Services, Project Home Program.

In 2005, after many years of Margaret and Melvin studying and researching documents concerning their Lord and Savior, they were baptized again. Their church was renamed to Bethel Apostolic of Yeshua the Messiah, Incorporated (Hebrew Birth Name of Christ). The church still operates under the leadership of Evangelist Francis and Grenanda Bush, as well as Brother Charles Hawkins, Sr. In 2009, after 21 years of service and dedication to the residents of the Project Home Program, Margaret's health began to decline, due to Alzheimer's Disease. The home at 6010 Stephen Reid Road, Huntingtown, Maryland, that provided an abundance of love and care closed its doors to the program. Margaret's hobbies consisted of trips in the family's mobile home, shopping, dining out, fishing, sewing, and cooking. Her favorite television programs were, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Price is Right and The Wheel of Fortune.

Margaret and Melvin traveled throughout the United States and even enjoyed a 7-day Alaskan Cruise with daughter Odesea and friends. Margaret accompanied, daughters Joyce and Odesea and granddaughter, Shalitia on their Girls' Trip to New York and Aruba. In addition, Margaret toured Hawaii with her daughters Joyce and Odesea. Unfortunately, in March 2016, after 7 years of Odesea providing loving care to Margaret and Melvin, in their lifetime home, they were relocated to the Calvert County Nursing Home, in Prince Frederick, Maryland. On July 30, 2018, after battling pneumonia, Melvin transitioned to be with God. Subsequent to Melvin's death, Margaret relocated to her new home, in White Plains, Maryland with Odesea, until she peacefully transitioned to Glory.

Margaret was preceded in death by husband Melvin Giles, Sr.; Five brothers: Howard Chase; Robert and Albert Brooks; John Wallace Jr. (Puddin); Stephen Wallace, Sr.; Three sisters: Ella Beatrice Wallace (Tootie), Mary King and Bertina Chew; Four aunts: Nellie and Helen Chase; Mary Smith; and Edna Mackall; Three uncles: Milton, James and Noble Chase; and grandson Lamond Hawkins.
