Obituary for MARGARET SAVAGE
Margaret Savage was born April 16, 1936 in Charleston South Carolina to the late Lillian Sherman and the late Jasper Edward.
Margaret with her grandmother Essie Sherman and mother Lillian relocated to Harlem New York where she attended elementary and junior high school. Later she attended Washington Irving High School and graduated in 1953.
After graduation she met and married Luther James Savage and within that union four children was born. They relocated to Fort Greene in Brooklyn New York, and later purchase a home in East New York Brooklyn. Margaret was a nurturing mother and caring person to her children, family and friends.
She worked at various types of jobs until she retired from the New York City Police Department as an Administrative Assistant. In between working and taking care of the family she was a person who loved to travel and loved to go to the Casinos. She also loved to dance.
In 2003 she along with her family relocated to Maryland, where she would enjoy the rest of her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her eldest son Gregory James Savage. She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Maria Ann Terry, Jeffry Keith Savage and Mary Ellen Savage Burgos; daughter-in-law; Oshell Savage; grandchildren, Tamika Ann Savage, Charmon Savage, Johnathan Savage, Candice Savage, Seth Terry, Ivana Terry, Patrick Reed: great grandchildren, Charmon Savage Jr, Bryce Savage, Bryanna Savage, Dylan Savage; cousins, Deborah Hampton, Delores Herrera, Edna Meyers, Deborah Meyers, Donald Meyers, Desamka Meyers. Special thanks to these families, Whittenburg/Wilson, Bell, Grants, Crenshaw, Burgos, Marshall/Lavender, James, Bozeman and Hunter and a host of loving and dear friends whom she called family.
Margaret we will miss your laughter, deep insightful conversations, advice on living, good times, kindness and your beautiful dimple smile. Now you are free and we’ll say farewell with deep sorrow in our hearts.
