Obituary for MARGARET GAIL HUTCHINS-WATERS
Margaret Gail Hutchins- Waters, daughter of the late Joseph and Cora Hutchins, departed this earthly dwelling on December 20, 2018. Gail was born October 11, 1949, raised in Calvert County, MD and educated in the public school system. She spent the final years of her life working at The Center for Life Enrichment.
Gail was employed at the Our Lady Star of the Sea School, first as an aide and then hired as a teacher from 197 4 - 2000. Father Gardiner was one of her biggest supporters. She was mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher and friend to her sons, her first two granddaughters, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Gail played a big part in her children's lives, especially when it came to sports. You would see her in the stands or on the sideline cheering them on whether it was football, basketball, track or gymnastics. Not only did she cheer on her children but all those in her family who were participating in the games. She was always supporting and encouraging them to do their best. She enjoyed teaching the children at Our Lady Star of the Sea School (OLSS) and everyone who came in contact with her left knowing that they had a friend for life. She loved playing sports, fishing, reading, singing in the choir at OLSS and especially her family. When growing up, you would see her with a book in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. It wasn't unusual for her to read 4-5 books in a week or for her to listen to her iPod while doing laundry or cleaning the house. She adored her grandchildren and would spoil them and then send them back to their parents. Socially, she would spend time with friends she met during her teaching career at OLSS. According to stories I would hear, they'd have a ball. As for shopping, she could out-shop the best of them. Until she got sick and could not attend mass, you would find her either cantoring or in the front pew at church every Sunday swaying to the music.
Gail is survived by her lifelong friend and partner Walter Waul; her sons, Anthony (Debbie) and Andre; sisters, Rosalie, Williemae (Wilmer), Gwyn (Lonnie), Bonnie (Johnny) and Clovia; brothers, Douglas (Vanessa), Paul (Bertha), James (Deborah), and Jerry; sister-in-law, Gladys; grandchildren, Triwanna, Taja, Tonique, Linnelra, Maya, Angel, Anthony Jr. and Makya; great granddaughters, Nia and Taylen. She also leaves to grieve a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph and mother, Cora; daughter, Monique; brother, Everett, Sr., and sisters, Saonia (Garfield), Elaine (Nelson), Joanne; nephews Travon, Everett, Jr. and Wayne and niece Shrnique.
