Obituary for MARCHELLE R. THOMAS

Marchelle "Shelly" Romayne Thomas was born June 4, 1969 in Washington, D.C. to Vernon T. Thomas and Katrina Romayne Thomas. Marchelle attended Potomac High School. She later attended the University of the District of Columbia where she worked towards an accounting degree. She also attended Ashford University to become a Rehabilitation Counselor and majored in Behavioral Health Science.

Shelly loved the Lord and began her spiritual journey at Redemption Ministries under Pastor Anthony Motley. Later she joined Greater Mount Zion under Pastor Dante King. When her sister Margo founded Remnant of Hope International Church, Shelly joined. Shelly also frequently visited Friendship Church Outreach Ministry, Bishop Bonnie Hunter Pastor and The Master's Child Church, Bishop Melvin Robinson, Jr.

Shelly was a writing, performer, actor, and rapper. Shelly wrote music and poetry. A born entertainer, Shelly's personality was the life of the party and she was an incredible story teller. Shelly used her gifts and talents to share her life's struggles, encouraging others, and pointing people to Christ. Never one to mix words, Shelly's work was bold, beautiful, and real.

If Shelly wasn't writing or performing, she was baking brownies and speaking wisdom to young people. She often gave her brownies as gifts and brought them to family gathering. Young people were drawn to Shelly and she obliged. She would laugh with them while giving them warnings and words of advice.

Shelly had a heart of gold, often times giving when it was her turn to receive. She often put the concerns of others before herself. Shelly helped any and everybody who needed assistance. As sweet as Shelly was, she didn't play when it came to her family and friends. If she loved you, she fought for you and would do anything to protect you.

Shelly was animated and had a loud laugh that filled a room. Her laugh was contagious too. To know Shelly was to love the joy she brought into a room and the power of a "forever friend". If you didn't know Shelly, she made you feel like you knew her all of your life. Shelly never met a stranger. If you met Shelly, you'd remember!

Shelly leaves to mourn her death; Katrina Thomas (mother), Marsha Thomas (sister), Margo and Kenny Gross (sister and brother-in-love), Felecia Motley (aunt), Alexia and Patrick Love (cousins), Ariyanna and Samiah Gross (nieces), Robert Oates IV (nephew) and wife Tiffany, Carl, Jalin, and Saphires (cousins) and a ton of young people who she inspired and testified to. Shelly was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Thomas and grandparents Bernard and Juanita Frye.
