Obituary for MAGGIE JACKSON GROSS
Maggie Jackson Gross 92, was born March 11, 1921 in McKendree, MD to the late Edmund and Mary Jackson. She departed this life on September 15, 2013 at Washington Adventist Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
She received her education from the public schools of Anne Arundel County.
Maggie was a domestic worker and would walk 4.5 miles to Bristol to catch the bus in all weather conditions. Her brother, William would escort her to the bus stop and she returned home weekly.
When her health permitted, she attended services at the Church of Christ, SE Suitland, Maryland. Maggie enjoyed reading the Bible and interpreting the scriptures.
Spending quality time with her family was her blessing.
In addition to her husband Benjamin Gross, she was preceded in death by her two sons, James Jackson and Ellis (Gardner) Contee; daughter Helen Gross; brother, Rev. William Jackson; three sisters, Ellen Rawlings, Susie Bass and Anna Dennis.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, three sons, Joseph Gardner, Samuel and Timothy Gross; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, John W. Jackson; sister, Catherine Blanchard; two sisters-in-law, Helen Jackson and Elizabeth Jackson; brother-in-law John Contee; two daughters-in-law, Brenda Contee and Margaret Gardner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
