Obituary for Leroy Brown, Sr.

Leroy Brown, Sr., 70 of Sunderland, MD, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park, MD.He was born Thursday, April 21, 1938 in Calvert County, Maryland to the late Warren Brown and the late Emma Ethel Chase Brown. He was one of seven children.Leroy attended Brooks High School in Calvert County, MD. Leroy found Salvation in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and attended Patuxent United Methodist Church. In October 1959, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to his best friend, Edna Marie Ray. Out of this union were born five children who he loved and was very proud. Leroy knew that hard work was all about. He worked as a concrete finisher for many years and ended his years of employment as a faithful employee of Giant Food Store. He was also a loyal watcher of the WWF along with his sister Irene. He also loved drag racing and anything that squealed tires and left a cloud of smoke behind.Those of you who knew Leroy knew that he was a jokester and he always, always had a cheerful word to put a big smile on your face. While giving you those cheerful words you were going to get the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not.He was preceded in death by his brothers, Warren, Wilford, and Robert.Leroy joins his late wife Edna Marie Brown of 44 years and leaves to cherish his fond memories four sons, Les, Leroy Jr., Gregory, and Dwight; one daughter, Maxine. He also leaves one son-in-law, Anthony Howard; two daughters-in-law, Marsha and Rena; seven grandchildren, Latisha (Kirk), Devon, Rochelle, Jakeesha, Little Les, Bryant, and Terissa (Byrd); three great-grandchildren, Arianna, Leila, and Moe; three brothers, William "Chick", Oliver, and Joe; three sisters, Williemae, Irene, and Kizzie; four sisters-in-law, Vivian, Glenda, Martha, and Doris; three brothers-in-law, Irving Cook, Robert Ray, Jr., and Frank Jones; a devoted mother-in-law, Earlene Booze; father-in-law, Robert Booze; a special friend, Rev. Lowell Thomas; a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services were held at Patuxent UM Church, Huntingtown, MD Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Tunde E.O. Davies officiating.Interment was at Patuxent UM Church Cemetery, Huntingtown, MD. Pallbearers were Maurell Cook, Wayne Wallace, Maurice Jones, Rodney Brown, Rodney Jones, and Dean Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Rock Smith, Joe Jones, Clyde Holland, James (Duke) Lundenes, Willie Carroll, Lewis Howard, and Theodore Gross
