Obituary for LOUIS LEROY WAUL, SR.
Louis Leroy Waul, Sr. was born on November 4, 1926, to the late George and Rosie Waul. He departed this life in the comfort of his home on February 2, 2017.
Louis was educated in the Calvert County Public School System. He developed a strong work ethic at a young age when he began working on the farm with his father. In addition, he was a fisherman, worked in the construction industry, and was later employed by the Wood Brothers in St. Leonard, Maryland, until his retirement.
Louis was a faithful member of the Greater Bible Way Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Henry H. Brown, where he served as the Bishop's Personal Deacon and Chauffer. He was also an active member of the Men's Choir. He remained a faithful Deacon to the late Bishop Joseph Nathan Brown, current Senior Pastor, Neil Gross and Associate Pastor, Delethian Gross.
By friends and family, Louis was affectionately known as "Honey, Dad, Grandpop, Great Grandpoppy, Unc and Stoney." He was a kind and soft spoken man of God, who loved helping others. His favorite sayings were, "Hold on to God's strong arm and ride out the storm" and "He's going to keep it in low gear, so that he doesn't wreck anything."
Louis married the love of his life, Selesta Carpenter, on August 5, 1950. From this union, they were blessed with eight children. They are truly grateful to have had such a loving and humble husband and father.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Joe, Walter Waul, and John Commodore; sister, Vertie Wallace; sons, Louis Jr. and Timothy; grandsons, Sean Waul and Wilbur Beverly, Jr.; and best friend, Clarence Johnson.
Louis leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and dedicated wife, Selesta; daughters, Rosetta Beverly (Kay), Lorraine Parker (Kenneth), Bertie Shackelford (Royce), Minnie Burroughs (James); sons, Ricky (Jackie) and Tyrone Waul; brother, Edward; sister, Rosie Johnson; Aunt, Maggie Rice; sisters-in-law, Lottie Carpenter and Vernell CarpenterHartwell; 26 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; fishing crew, Otis and Clarence (Jack Jr.) Evans, Waymond (Frankie) Wallace; son, Ricky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
