Obituary for LINDA MARIE PURNELL
Linda Marie Purnell was born on September 7th, 1956 and departed this life peacefully in her sleep, on January 24, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Silas and Marie Young.
Linda attended St. Mary’s Public Schools. In her early years she worked as a civilian for the Navy at Patuxent River prior to graduation from Great Mills High School. She soon moved on to work for the federal government at Health Education and Welfare services, now known as Health and Human Services, as a Small Business Management Specialist where she served for 37 years continually achieving promotions and receiving multiple accolades for her work.
Linda was a life-long member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was an Usher and enjoyed participating in all of St. Luke’s annual celebrations and special events. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling to visit with them and spoiling them when they visited her. Linda enjoyed hand dancing, was an avid weather enthusiast, and loved classic and historical films and movies.
She was predeceased by her mother and father Silas and Marie Young, Grandparents, George and Rosie Purnell, Sister-In Law Francis Purnell, and Nephew Javonn Young. She leaves behind her greatest joys, Son and daughter Jason and Jaida Purnell and Grandsons Jetson Purnell, Jevin Purnell, and Jowel Grice (Detroit, MI). Her very dear and close-knit siblings Clyde Purnell(Waldorf, MD), Silas Young Jr. and Robin Johnson(St. Inigoes, MD), John and Louise Young, (Virgina Beach, VA), and Patrick and Ingrid Young, (Winfield, IN) along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved very dearly.
