Obituary for LINDA A. BARLOW
Linda Carol Adams Barlow passed her lest and received her wings bound for Glory on Monday, October 5, 2015. She boarded her flight for her heavenly home a round 10:45pm.
Linda Carol Adams was born in Rocky Mount, Virginia on Saturday, September 1, 1956 to the late Cleive Ester Adams, Sr. and the late Bertha Arrington Adams, the youngest of five children. She was educated in the Franklin County Public School System and worked in retail for eleven years. In 1970, Linda was baptized in the Precious Name of Jesus by the Late Bishop C. W. Hairston and shortly thereafter was filled with the Precious Gift of the Holy Ghost. Linda was a faithful and dedicated member serving in many capacities including the choir, cleaning committee, kitchen committee and as a Sunday School Teacher. She loved traveling with the church to Jubilee's and Convocations and that's how she met the Love and the Laughter of her life, Jack Timothy Barlow, Sr. They were united in marriage on Saturday, May 18, 1985. Linda moved with her new husband to Suitland, Maryland. To their union, four children were born.
Linda's vibrant and jolly spirit and beautiful smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was later employed as a substitute teacher and office aide for many schools within the Prince George's County School System, for many years. Williams Beanes Elementary School (Suitland, MD), however, had a special place in her heart. In October 2009, working alongside with her daughter, she found another outlet with being a sales associate, employed with the TJX Companies (Marshalls). There she grew many great friendships and was a mother to many of the young people she encountered while working there. She worked until her disease no longer allowed her to continue. Through the ups and downs of life, Linda always remained happy and upbeat, due mainly to her faith and love for God and the love, laughter and support from her husband and her children. She was a giving and loving person not only in words but also in her deeds. She would make you feel encouraged and uplifted even while going through her lowest points. It was only a test Linda went through - she kept the faith and didn't give up -she endured until the end.
Linda loved her family and the times they spent and memories they made. Stressing to love one another no matter what and never to give up. She taught us how to fight and not to back down when life's challenges come against us. And to always keep your faith rooted and grounded in the one above. Linda never gave up on God, and continued to believe in Him in all that she went through even until she took her eternal rest in Him. If you ever wanted to see an example of God's faithfulness and His keeping power, all you had to do was look at Linda.
Left to cherish her precious memories is her devoted husband of 30 years, Jack Timothy Barlow, Sr., her daughter, Jacqueline Lynette and three sons; Jack Timothy, Jr., Justin Terrell and Jordan Terrance and one grandson, Zacari Hawkins; two sisters, Marsha Tyree and Marilyn (Richard) Clements; two brothers Pastor Cleive E. Adams, Jr. and Deacon John (Linda) Adams all of Rocky Mount, VA; four sister-in-laws, Candy Adams of Radford, VA, Diane Durbin or Washington, DC, Gwendolyn (Patrick) Davis and Theresa Green; and one Brother-in-law, Anthony Green all of Glenarden, MD. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, saints of God and friends.
